Chewy Lemonhead & Friends, a popular candy manufactured by Ferrara Candy Co. and sold in many Kosher and non-Kosher stores, bears an unauthorized UMK hechsher, Rabbi Menachem Piekarski of the UMK hechsher says.
Piekarski, a representative of the United Mehadrin Kosher certification agency of S. Paul, Minnesota, informed COLlive that “corrective measures are being taken.”
The only Ferrara products certified by the UMK are Atomic Fireballs and Jawbusters/Jawbreakers, any other items are not certified by the UMK, he notes.
The individual boxes did not have a Hechsher but the big box of individually wrapped ones has always had a hechsher. Is that now invalid as well?

I assume that means the big ones are no good either…?
I hope they hit them with both barrels, otherwise it weakens all of the kashrus world as a whole! Sue their sugar-coated socks off!
Did the status change recently or was it never Kosher?
They used to be kosher and are no longer kosher. Not big packs, small packs or medium packs.
