300 students and young professionals from Argentina gathered at Chabad of Midtown Manhattan recently for a Hakhel unity event.
The lively gathering united groups from different cities in Argentina, currently visiting New York accompanied by 6 different Shluchim.
The annual trip was started in 1996 by Rabbi Shlomo Levy, Shliach in Argentina, later joined by different groups from various cities. The groups spend a week to 10 days touring the Jewish community of Crown Heights and Jewish life in the New York area.
In order to qualify for the trip, the students learn a series of Judaism courses and are tested on the material.
Since the first trip, thousands of young adults have had a positive Jewish experience, which has a great impact on their Jewish pride and observance.
This being a year of Hakhel, the trip included a special unity gathering for all the groups that are in New York.
6 Shluchim and their groups were part of the event, hailing from different cities, such as Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba.
The gathering was addressed by Chabad of Midtown Shliach, Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger. Musical entertainment was by Rabbi Daniel Zelione.
The event was organized by Rabbi Zalmi Levy from Chabad Palermo – El Lazo. Special thanks to Chabad of Midtown, Rabbi Levi Shmotkin, and Rabbi Yoel Migdal.
