The week following the Nechama’s Closet auction was a very busy one, but there were two calls that came in that were very unexpected.
These calls were unusual and a very pleasant surprise as this was the first time this has ever happened.
One call came from a girl who had won a $500 gift certificate. She wanted to donate the money back to Nechama’s Closet, thereby doubling on her Mitzvah. She had of course bought tickets to win this prize and yet she gave for a second time. The second call came in from a woman who had won a very valuable package. She explained that she knew someone else, who’s husband was not well and could use the money more than her. She was inquiring whether it would be ok to pass on her winnings. Of course she was given full permission to do so. We all know the excitement of winning in an auction. Everyone buys tickets not really expecting, but hoping to win. Yet here were two special people who generously gave over their winnings. They gave and gave again. These stories were just heartwarming for us to hear.
The Chessed in this community is just overwhelming. We now stand very close to the Yomtov of Pesach, Z’man Cheiruseinu. Hashem should look down on His children and see the kindness and bring us the ultimate Geula now!
There are still 2 more days to purchase tickets for the GRAND PRIZE.
