A Mitzvah on the way to a Mitzvah.
A group of businessmen and active members in Jewish organizations in Los Angeles traveled this week for a 24 visit to New York where they davened at the Rebbe’s Ohel.
The 15 men, led by Rabbi Yossi Malka, met up at the Executive Lounge of American Airlines in LAX for a Rosh Chodesh Minyan on Sunday and helped others with putting on Tefillin.
On the flight, a Jewish passenger approached them and shared how their mother passed away in the Hudson Valley area, north of New York City, and was looking for a rabbi to officiate. Malka was quick to connect them with the local Shluchim.
The group’s first stop was Chabad Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway where they were allowed to enter the Rebbe’s room and then toured the WLCC room where the Rebbe’s farbrengens were broadcast to the world.
They later went for a private tour of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s home on President Street and traveled to Monsey to participate and bring joy to a chosson and kallah who have just gotten engaged.
The next morning, on Monday, the group went to the Cambria Heights section of Queens to daven at the Ohel for their families and friends ahead of the Rebbe’s birthday on Yud Aleph Nissan and Pesach.
“Not only did they have a good time but it was also a spiritual and uplifting experience for them,” Malka said, adding that his plans additional trip with community members.
Amazing group of men were led by an outstanding person. They are all still talking about what a wonderful time they had. They are on to planning the next group.
