Members of the Kollel Menachem in Crown Heights that was established by the Rebbe in 1962 under the aegis of Machne Israel and the Mazkirus, were generously assisted for Pesach.
First, they got a bonus allowance from businessman and philanthropist Sholom Ber Drizin who has also given to another 3 Chabad kollels that operate in New York.
The kollel members, known as yungeleit, personally signed a framed thank you for “contributing from his wealth a large amount” during the period of time they dedicated to learn before finding a job or Shlichus.
The donation was facilitated with the help of R’ Eli Slavin, an activist and a Community Liaison of Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and Crown Heights businessman R’ Noach Fox.
Another Pesach gift was given by a donor who remained anonymous. Kollel members were told to order meat from the Crown Kosher Meatmarket on Kingston Avenue and that 40% of the bill will be subsidized.
“Through their benevolent donations they put smiles on the faces of some 100 young couples and enabled them to enjoy yomtov,” said Rabbi Noach Fox, Administrator of the kollel.
