On Wednesday night, a known thief was caught stealing packages from a building in Crown Heights.
Shmira and police were called and arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. However, due to a miscommunication, the perpetrator was released and is currently at large.
All packages were recovered.
Shmira would like to educate the community that in order for a police officer to make an arrest, there needs to be a victim and someone who witnessed the crime, present at the scene.
If you’re a victim of a package theft and did not observe the actual incident, but you see the perpetrator in possession of your property, the perpetrator can be arrested for possession of stolen property.
If you see her committing another crime, call 911 and Shmira at 718-221-0303.
She also looks for keys, beware
And if you don’t make a police report, that package theft never happened.
