One would be hard-pressed to find someone whose soul was not touched by Sunday night’s awe-inspiring Kinus Hashluchim banquet. The Divrei Torah, keynote address, and personal stories that were shared were gems straight from the heart. The sense of joy and pride that filled every soul as 36 Sifrei Torah were raised in unison, ready to begin their journeys home in communities around the world, was indescribable.
A key part of every Kinus is the hachlatah that is undertaken for the coming year—an articulated goal put into action furthering the Rebbe’s vision and empowering the Shluchim in their effort to spread Torah and mitzvos around the world. This year was no different. A hachlatah was made. But, at the same time, it was completely different. It was a call to action for Shluchim to inspire every Jew—chossid, not chossid, shliach, not shliach, businessman, homemaker, volunteer, entrepreneur, any Jew anywhere—to be a beacon of light utilizing his circle of influence to inspire more Mitzvos.
No matter what labels we put on ourselves, we are all needed to accomplish this goal. “It is up to us,” Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky passionately entreated the crowd, “to see to it that this year is the year that we end Galus! But,” he continued, “it means that each and every one of us has to undertake to see and do his part that there is not one Jew in the world, regardless of his affiliation or education, that is not going to do a mitzvah!”
It is a reflection of the Rebbe’s message that every Yid is a shliach, and that every Jew can ignite a spark that will, in turn, light others. With the determination to make this hachlatah a reality, the mitzvah fundraising site, OneMitzvah.org created by RaiseThon.com, has been completely revamped, allowing mitzvah campaigns to quickly and efficiently be set up, hopefully igniting movements of mitzvos that will inspire more and more movements, until we are the generation that is completely filled with mitzvos, and we reach the final mitzvah that ushers in the Redemption.
“We will do whatever it takes,” said Rabbi Kotlarsky, “to see that finally, in the year of Hakhel, all the Jews will gather together and march to Yerushalayim, to Moshiach Tzidkeinu, speedily in our days, amen!”
