The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center will be the venue for the gala banquet of the 5780 (2019) International Kinus Hashluchim, the annual conference of Chabad Shluchim.
Scheduled for Sunday, 26 Cheshvan 5780 (November 24, 2019), the evening draws thousands of rabbis, family members, supporters and community members for a sit-down dinner coupled with inspiring speeches, video productions and dancing to Chassidic music.
Organizers typically spend months searching for a suitable location that can hold such a sizable crowd and meet the specifications of a kosher-certified catering service, entertainment equipment and proximity to Brooklyn.
The Expo Center boasts 150,000 square feet of space and has been used for a myriad of both public and private events, customizing the venue for shows, technology, and vendor capabilities.
Located in Edison, near New Brunswick in Northeast New Jersey, it is an hour and a 15-minute drive from Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, around which most of the conference takes place.
For those joining the kinus just for the banquet, the expo is at the confluence of I-95 (the NJ Turnpike), I-287, the Garden State Parkway, and US Route 1, 9, and 35. From the Newark Liberty Airport, it is a 15 minutes drive, 40 minutes south of Midtown Manhattan, and 60 minutes from Philadelphia.
