The pomp and circumstance. Gold chariot. Lines of uniformed soldiers. a klotzy crown. Royal cape. Like kids, and yet by adults for adults. For what? What makes these people “royal”? Noteworthy?

Not silly at all

“Kingship on earth is a semblance of the Kingship in Shomayim” (Berachos 58a)

“One should make an effort to see non-Jewish kings, so that if he is worthy, he will get to see the difference between Jewish kings and non-Jewish ones” (ibid. 19b)

“When one sees many great ministers bowing to one person, there will fall on him awe and fear” (Tanya, ch. 42)

And so forth.

When seeing a King or Queen. Don’t dismiss the ceremony and rituals. We too have ceremonies & rituals by which we live our lives.
