This past Motzei Shabbos, Tomchei Tmimim Ocean Parkway hosted a Grand Melava Malka for fathers and sons in honor of 19 Kislev. Participants began the evening with washing for Hamotzi and enjoying a full sit-down seuda.
The program opened with a father-and-son chavrusa learning from a sicha of the Rebbe, followed by an inspiring story about the Alter Rebbe, shared by Rabbi Shmuel Dechter. Everyone then sang together Pada Beshalom and watched a video production created by the talmidim, presenting the story of “Karl the Janitor.”
The evening concluded with a lively Kahoot game based on the sicha and story, engaging everybody in a fun and educational way.
For over two years, the Yeshiva has been collecting TTOP family stories connected to the Rebbe. Talmidim and staff interviewed their parents or grandparents and submitted family photos with the Rebbe for illustration purposes. Rabbi Sarue presented sample pamphlets of the forthcoming book, “Bridging Generations,” and shared a remarkable story that recently came to light. The book will be going into print in the next few days Iy”h.
