As every year, from Yud Shevat thru Yud Alef Nissan, talmidim of Cheder Menachem in Los Angeles worked in preparing a special and most befitting present for the Rebbe in honor of Yud Alef Nissan with their annual Mishnayos Be’Al peh program; together, the talmidim learned and were tested on a total of over 118,000 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya, Siddur and Yediyos Kloliyos. This number includes: 9,770 Mishnayos – including 151 complete Masechtos and 1,222 Perakim, 7 Sedarim, as well as 80 Perakim of Tanya Baal Peh.
Four talmidim learned and were successfully tested on the entire Seder Mo’ed Baal Peh, while one of them was also tested on Seder Zera’im and another on Seder Nezikin and Seder Kodashim.
On Sunday, 3 Sivan, a special ceremony was held where the talmidim were awarded Seforim as prizes for their efforts and achievements.
Because of the big turnout and the many Talmidim, the event was held for the first time in an auditorim close to the Cheder. Rabbonim, Roshei Yeshivos, Shluchim, Mashpiyim, parents and friends joined together to recognize and congratulate the achievements of the talmidim.
Rabbi Mendel Greenbaum, Menahel of Cheder Menachem began the celebration by welcoming everyone with a D’var Torah and giving a Yasher Koach to the talmidim. Words of bracha, and a message to the children from the life of the Baal Shem Tov, whose 250th Yahrtzeit is this Shavuos, were shared by Rabbi Shimon Raichik, Rav of Anash in Los Angeles and Cong. Levi Yitzchak.
A special presentation was made to Reb Yankel Ginsburg שי’, the “Zevulun” of the Cheder’s MBP Program, who sponsors the Seforim on a yearly basis, L’iluy Nishmas his father, Reb Dov Reuven ben Dovid HaLevi ע”ה. The Cheder ordered a video of Reb Yankel receiving a dollar from the Rebbe, and the Rebbe wishing Bsuros Tovos. This video was shown to the assembled, before being presented to Reb Yankel with the message that surely this Limud Mishnayos Baal Peh is included in the Bsuros Toivos that the Rebbe wished.
Rabbi Sholom Heidingsfeld, the coordinator of the Mishnayos Be’al Peh program, announced the accomplishments of this year’s MBP, which was followed by honoring the top 4 talmidim with the highest accomplishments, to receive their prizes; Menachem Farkash of Kita Vov, Yossi Wolowik of Kitah Zayin, Levi Greenbaum of Kita Hay and Mendel Korf of Kita Vov.
Significantly, all these Talmidim learnt the entire Seder Moed Baal Peh, and during the program an MBP Jewpardy game was held, with the Talmidm being tested on questions from seder Moed.
The crowd was then treated to the Cheder’s Boys Choir, led by Rabbi Leibel Cohen, which sang the Dokshitzer Niggun with a musical accompaniment. After this, every Talmid received a prize according to his achievements.
The Talmidim and Hanhala of the Cheder hope the talmidim’s accomplishments and achievements give much Nachas to the Rebbe and, as explained in the Rebbe’s Sichos, will bring the Hisgalus of Moshiach Now!
Some of the Rabonim & Shluchim who attended include: Rabbi Shimon Raichik, Rabbi Ezra B. Schochet, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon, Rabbi Yosef Shusterman, Rav of Anash & Shliach to Beverly Hills, Rabbi Mendel Schapiro, Mashpiya in Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon, Rabbi Amram Farkash, Menahel of the Mesivta Ohr Elchonon, as well as Rabbonim and Shluchim from all over Southern California.
