Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Belinow was appointed as the new Rosh Yeshiva of the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Israel, located in the village of Kfar Chabad.
The announcement last week about his appointment was received with interest as the institution has been without a Rosh Yeshiva since the passing of Rabbi Yaakov Katz 4 years ago.
Born in France, Rabbi Belinow serves as the Rabbi of Central Bnei Brak and heads the Kollel Paamei Yaakov in the city and the Lishkas Halacha L’maaseh, an institute on halacha founded by his father in law, Rabbi Moshe Landa OBM.
He also serves as the Rabbi of the Chabad community in Bnei Brak and in the Central Chabad Shul located on Rashi Street.
This isn’t Rabbi Belinow’s first foray into the world of Yeshivos. After learning in the Chabad Yeshivos in Burnoy, France and at 770 Eastern Parkway, he was sent by the Rebbe to teach in the Chabad Yeshiva in Casablanca, Morrocco.
By accepting the new position in Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Belinow joined his son Rabbi Dobver Belinow and his son-in-law Rabbi Chaim Yosef Shlomo Kenig who both teach in the Kfar Chabad Yeshiva.
“I am very, very excited about falling into this privilege,” the senior Rabbi Belinow told the Kfar Chabad magazine this week.
“I have been serving in different roles in the world of Chinuch over the years,” he said. “I am very excited and thank Hashem for this. And along with that, I pray that I will be able to give great nachas to the Rebbe.”
As a relative of his I saw him sitting על התורה ועל העבודה when he was a bocher in yeshiva
I was in 770 the same time as Hrav Bellinow. He was one of the outstanding bochurim at the time a true lamdan with great koach hazboroh. Extremely wid and an emese chassidishe bochur
I have no doubt he will be an incredible rosh yeshiva
As a Bochur he wrote a sefer on Mechirat Chamets according to the Shita of the Alter Rebbe.
I remember him from his position as a Rosh Yeshiva for the Chabad Bochurim in מ”ג in Casablanca.
