At first glance, you can see that Lubavitch Sparks isn’t a typical High School. There are plenty of couches, giving the school a cozy and casual feel. The main office is right in the middle of the main hallway, so the girls can instantly connect with school staff for assistance and encouragement. You may see a girl arrive late to school, but she is greeted with warm smiles instead of consequences because she’s been struggling to get to school on time, and she is improving each day. Some students will also hang out on the couches when they should be in class because they know they can take a break, look after themselves, and seek support whenever they need it.
The school’s setup may seem unusual, but it perfectly aligns with its unique mission. Lubavitch Sparks High School was founded for girls who are smart, intuitive, soul-searchers with a growth mindset – and need extra support in some aspects of their lives. Every student is committed to doing the work needed to become healthy, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – they just need a safe, caring environment to do it in.
Lubavitch Sparks High School provides a safe haven for its students. It offers the resources and warm, informal, nurturing space where they can make the changes that will transform their lives. From caring teachers who really connect with the girls, to mental health and academic support, to engaging Bnos Chabad events – and the sisterhood of their fellow students – every girl receives the support she deserves.
One recent graduate explains how the school gave her the space and support she needed to transform her life:
“The other day, Google photos showed me a picture of myself from my first year of high school, and I realized…I am a different person now. When I started at Lubavitch Sparks, my life was run by my social anxiety – and I was so limited! But now, not only have I graduated from High School, but I’m also active, social, and have a job that involves interacting with people regularly. I would never have been able to accomplish so much without the support of the school that allowed me to figure out who I am so that I could grow in my own way, at my own pace.”
Lubavitch Sparks gives our precious daughters so much more than a High School education. It provides the space, time, and support they need to create a healthy and productive future. Sparks Student #2: Hi Friends, I’ve been a student at Lubavitch Sparks High SChool for two years now, and here are some things I’ve observed. The atmosphere and environment is one of the kindest and warmest that I’ve ever encountered. The staff and faculty are super individual focused, and they make sure each student gets what they need. They are so loving and caring. Sparks is a place where everyone feels at home.
Sparks Students #3: Chaya (margolin) and Roch (Hildeshaim) are two of the coolest people I know. They built a school and made it a family. They changed my world. And this year they are changing 27!
Sparks Students #4: Sparks changed my life. Help it be able to help others to grow into a stronger, better, more amazing version of themselves like it did with me. The world needs Sparks. It would mean the world to me if you can help us continue to empower other students.
Sparks Student #5: This is the most amazing school there could ever be. I now love coming to school.
Sparks student #6: My sister went to your school for one day and said she learned more that day than many years of education in a mainstream school. She was present in the classes and was stimulated enough to enjoy the learning. I think that says a lot. That’s how good our school is!
Sparks student #7: Our school is not just gorgeous. It’s awesome!
Sparks student #8: Sparks paid for our transportation to Washington DC because they believed it was important for us to have the opportunity to go to the march
