On Wednesday evening, the fourth night of Chanukah, newly elected Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau invited select members of the Canadian Jewish community to participate in a Menorah lighting ceremony on Parliament Hill.
Invited to light the first candle was Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn, Director of Public Affairs of the Canadian Federation of Chabad Lubavitch, which operates under the leadership of the Head Shluchim across Canada.
In attendance were a delegation of Chabad Shluchim, including Rabbi Mendel Raskin, Rabbi Dovid Cohen, Rabbi Chaim Boyarski, Rabbi Dovid Hayes, Rabbi Mendel Blum, Rabbi Sholom Sternberg and others.
Joining the celebration from the U.S. was Rabbi Chanina Sperlin, intergovernmental liaison for the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
The celebration was coordinated by newly elected Members of Parliament, Anthony Housefather and Michael Levitt.

I hear he’s a fan of Obama, and is bringing in more ‘widows and orphans’
Hopefully to a good start.
