In the aftermath of the pandemic, JGU is responding to its repercussions for the wellbeing of girls, women, and families by launching a series of initiatives, including Creative Online Camp. “We are creating meaningful connections to our core and building community to nurture spiritual, mental and emotional health,” says global director Nechama Laber.
Last summer amid lockdowns, JGU ran a successful 8-week virtual day-camp for over 100 girls in the U.S., Canada, and Israel, with parents testifying to a positive impact on their daughters.
One mother says, “My daughter is getting a tremendous sense of tradition, values, morals, fun, productivity, and love and friendship for new friends that she never would have met if it wasn’t for this wonderful camp.”

Allow Us to Reassure You if These are Your Concerns About a Virtual Retreat!
-
“It definitely won’t be as fun.”
Virtual meetups can be quite interactive and lively. We also offer variegated activities for all sorts of interests. Give it a try; you may be delightfully surprised!
-
“My daughter can’t sit in front of a computer for so long. Will she be bored?”
The program is made to be engaging; she will not be able to simply sit! Cooking, art, dance, singing with peers, and more will serve as opportunities to build her confidence, skills, and leadership. We also accommodate regular breaks from the screen and encourage physical activity and fresh air!
-
“My daughter won’t have a social life with online camp.”
We agree that in-person interaction is absolutely important! However, modern technology enables fantastic opportunities to meet new, like-minded friends from around the world that would not otherwise be possible. Our online students who have also been our campers sense the love of our retreat through the screen, a love that no atypical situation can negate. At JGU, we nurture a connection that transcends time and space through soulful activities that touch a deeper level.
