Twenty-five female students and young women, graduates of the Jewish studies empowerment program “STARS Intensive” operating throughout Ukraine, were recently recognized for their dedication and achievements over the past year. As a reward, they embarked on a unique journey from Ukraine to southern Italy.
In this unique program, the participants committed to eight hours of intensive Jewish studies each week, forming a strong foundation for their continued personal and spiritual growth. As a symbolic recognition of their hard work, they were invited to take part in a memorable and historic journey.
While exploring the iconic sites of Rome and southern Italy, participants engaged in a wide array of activities that included classes, lectures, joint prayers, workshops, and inspiring Chassidic gatherings. These special sessions were led by Rabbi Pinchas Vishedski, Chairman of STARS in Ukraine, that together with his wife, Rebbetzin Dina, personally accompanied and supported the group throughout their travels.
“Especially in these times, when back home they can’t enjoy even a day of peace,” Rabbi Vishedski shared, “this special week also provided them with precious moments of tranquility that they so deeply needed.”
“We are privileged to be part of this extraordinary program,” said Rabbi Avi Kessel, leader of the global STARS organization. “Ukraine now has our focused attention, as community rabbis and Chabad emissaries continue their dedicated efforts to revitalize Jewish life in Ukraine despite the ongoing crisis.”
A highlight of the trip was an uplifting Shabbat celebration in the heart of Rome. Hosted by veteran Chabad emissaries Rabbi Yitzhak Hazan and Rabbi Menachem Lazar, the event offered participants a warm and uplifting experience.
The journey’s success was made possible through the steadfast support and partnership of distinguished organizations. The STARS World Organization, led by Rabbi Avi Kessel; YAHAD, an umbrella organization directed by Rabbi Mendy Wilansky within the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC), and JRNU, under the guidance of Rabbi Shlomo Peles; all played key roles in ensuring the success of this initiative.
