Dov Ber Gurewicz is taking his rabbinical aspirations very seriously and with sincerity. The 21 year-old Chicago native spends much of his time learning for smicha in the Yeshiva Chovevei Torah in Crown Heights.
He has another side to him: The soulful and musical one.
Gurewicz has auditioned for Season Three of “A Jewish Star” international singing competition with a song titled “Strength of the World.”
In the music video, filmed on the backdrop of Crown Heights by Moshe Rosner, depicts the lyrics of a person that is going through a rough patch with all things possible going wrong.
“I wrote this song describing feelings that people go through all the
time, where everything seems to be going wrong and can’t get any
worse,” he says.
“The chorus is about how no matter what happens, we need to face it all with a smile and be assured that Hashem is with us always and guides us – we just need to do our part.”
And if that didn’t convince you, Gurewicz knows to play the guitar, drums, bass and violin. If he needs to be summed up in two words, we would just say: “pure talent.”
