Chanukah, the festival of lights, was made a bit brighter on Sunday night at the fifth annual CTeen Jewish Heritage Night at the Brooklyn Barclays Center.
Thousands of people—with many of them being Jewish teens who attended with the 36 CTeen chapters from the tri-state area—packed the seats of Brooklyn’s premier sports stadium and were treated to an exciting event that featured cantor Aryeh Hurwitz performing the National Anthem, a Rabbis vs. teens halftime game, and of course, the lighting of the famous Basketball menorah.
A young CTeen member recited the brachos and lit the basketball menorah in between the first and second quarters of the game.
Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, executive director of Merkos 302, then shared the Rebbe’s Chanukah message with the crowd of 18,000 people.
the nicest part was 1) Aryeh Hurwitz singing, not rushing, performing SSSOOO beautiful.
2) lighting of the Menorah (it was a bit rushing)
all speaches were not so exciting.
Chazzan Hurwitz singing was a kiddush hashem
