Sruli Eidelman, owner of the popular Izzy’s Brooklyn Smokehouse in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, is expanding with a new Kosher eatery next door.
Izzy’s Taqueria, a new authentic Mexican restaurant, will open at 399 Troy Avenue in Crown Heights in the near future, YeahThat’sKosher blog reported.
Since opening three and a half years ago, Izzy’s Brooklyn Smokehouse has become world-renowned for Kosher authentic barbecue, developing a large fan base with customers traveling from near and far for their ribs, hot wings, and other delicacies.
The new Izzy’s Taqueria will utilize Izzy’s wood smoked meats and tacos and will be paying homage to true Mexican cuisine, with dishes inspired from both sides of the Rio Grande, YeahThat’sKosher reports.
While a taco joint, the menu at Izzy’s Taqueria will offer diners a base option of homemade corn Tortilla (soft tacos), rice bowl, or salad, topped with Izzy’s famed barbequed meats, such as smoked sliced brisket with salsa verde and chopped onion cilantro, pulled pastrami with chipotle Russian pickled onion, and lamb barbacoa with mole, pickled radish and carrots.
They will also serve a selection of sides such as Nachos with smoked “cheese” sauce, black beans, pulled beef Taquitos and guacamole and chips.
Their selection of desserts will include Tequila lime pie and Mexican chocolate mousse.
The new eatery will mirror Izzy’s BBQ’s hours of operation: Sunday, 1PM to 11PM, Monday to Thursday, 12PM to 11PM.
It will be under the kosher supervision of the OK.
A true Chosid of The Rebbe. Yosher Koach for focusing on the ikkar.
Instead of complaining that the guy does not sell Labavitch meat just go inside and ask, and the guy is right when you come home from a hard days work, you don’t want to wait for a parking space, I think the owner should rent out the lost across the street it will be easier for customers and the people that live in the neighborhood will be able to find parking
To #4 – There is a sign above the counter where you order clearly stating now all meat is Lubavitch and you should ask to find out what is. Additionally, I live nearby and see deliveries often and most of the meat is CHK Shor Habor, likely not all but a lot is and you can ask inside.
It’s the rebbe’s shechuna
…then you may be disappointed the first time you see real Mexican food 🙂
Also, you don’t need to shlep to five towns for C&G; they’re on Coney Island Ave as well. (I didn’t say they’re bad; they’re good, just not authentic.)
Will they be doing delivery? Will they be on jmenu?
Happened to me too!!!
I didnt’t even think of asking until I heard a person come in once and ask.
PLEASE SERVE CHABAD SHECHITA. ty
Can’t wait. Love Mexican food.
Tried to get lubavitcher hechsher for his restaurant when he started. He said they simply could not promise him the amount of first cut brisket and other cuts of meat that he needed in the quantity he needed it. Basically he smokes tons of meat and they couldn’t promise him enough of what he needed. That’s what I remember. I don’t believe that he is responsible for being machshil the rabbim. It is your responsibility to ask anywhere you do. I don’t agree with this mentality that you don’t have to ask and double check. If you are voluntarily putting… Read more »

sometimes you are Right but many a time you can wait for them finish eating and the come out to Smoke etc…
also being that there is a high turnover Rate in parking Spots by the time you make it around the Block to take to spot you see opening….. you’ve already lost it.
If people are driving to the restaurant you would only need to wait a few minutes for a spot (as people leave and as you claim all the cars apparently belong to restaurant goers) You should be thanking him for having spots becoming available after 8pm.
But someone has to open a Fried chicken joint in ch
I have been waiting for a mexican place for 15 years in crown heights. I love Carlos and Gabbias in five towns and now finally we will have one too! Enchiladas here i come!
Great,
Another Restaurant In a LUBAVITCH COMMUNITY that serves on principle SATMAR MEAT, What about Neighbors helping neighbors, besides for the issue from R’ Zalman Shimon Dworkin.
Amazing! CANT WAIT!
every house in that area has a driveway or garage ! if every person used it the people who need it like people in buildings and people visiting would have plenty of parking !
Never ate there but absolutely couldn’t believe it either.
After dining at Izzys many times I was shocked when I found out the meat was NOT LUBAVITCHER SHCHITA.
Why isnt it? Is it more expensive?
When does it start?
For those of us the live on that side of town. you can’t park on the Left Side of Montgomery BTW troy and Albany (due to the Dumb way the homes and Driveways were built) and the Next Block and all of Troy is pack with outsiders taking up all the Parking until about 11:30 PM. now imagine; you Come home from a long day of work, (you had to get up extra Early and Move your car before 7:00 AM Because you got Lucky the Night Before and got a Spot by the Public School on Montgomery or Empire)… Read more »
Izzy,
Great choice of restaurant style, my mouth is literally watering already! Will they be searving Mexican beer as well?
Good luck on the endeavor that brings outsiders to our community where they see and communicate with lubavitchers in a neutral setting in a positive light.
