Israel’s Minister of Science, Technology and Space Ofir Akunis visited the Jewish community in Crown Heights this past week.
Akunis began his visit with a meeting at the FREE shul on President Street where he sat with Jewish community activists from across Brooklyn.
He was welcomed by Chanina Sperlin, Eli Cohen, Zaki Tamir and Fishel Brownstein of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC).
Akunis visited the main shul of Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway and the WLCC room that broadcast the Rebbe’s farbrengens.
He also toured the Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library and spoke with its director Rabbi Berel Levine and the staff.
“I am proud of my Judaism!” Akunis later wrote on social media along with a photo of himself putting on Tefillin at 770.
“I believe, with complete faith, in a strong connection to our roots and to our tradition,” he wrote. “I always get excited when Chabad emissaries place tefillin with me – anywhere in the world!
“I am even more excited when this happens in the impressive and powerful synagogue of the Lubavitcher Rebbe at the World Chabad Center in 770, Brooklyn. From the United States this time, I wish each and every one of you, and your family: Shabbat Shalom, Shabbat rest.”
Great book to read the Rebbe’s teachings on Science, technology and Medicine.
I see they presented the minister with the prestigious book, Mind Over Matter, the Rebbe’s teachings on science, by Professor Branover.
I found this book to be an incredible tool with my educated mekuravim.
Very smart choice to present the Minister of Science!
