At the start of Sunday’s government meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel will act by all means and bring justice to the terrorists who murdered Zvi Kogan HYD.
His full remarks:
At the outset of my remarks, I want to express my deep shock – on my behalf, on behalf of all the members of the government, on behalf of the citizens of Israel, and on behalf of all the people of Israel – at the kidnapping and murder of Tzvi Kogan, may his memory be a blessing.
This murder was carried out in the United Arab Emirates. The murder of an Israeli citizen and a Chabad Shliach is a despicable act of antisemitic terrorism.
I also send, on your behalf, heartfelt condolences to the Kogan family. The State of Israel will take all necessary measures and will bring the murderers and their handlers to justice. None of them will go unpunished.
I greatly appreciate the cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in investigating the murder. We will strengthen our ties with them, especially in light of the attempts by the axis of evil to harm the peace relations between us. We will strengthen these ties and also work to expand stability in the region.
Yesterday, the terrorist organization Hamas published footage which allegedly shows the body of one of our kidnapped people. We are verifying the information, but at this stage, it cannot be confirmed. We are in contact with the family, and appropriate notifications have been sent to all the families. Our hearts are with them.
I just spoke with the mother. It’s hard to describe the nightmare she is going through. We embrace her, we embrace the family. We are committed to doing everything we can to bring back all the hostages, and of course, to return the fallen and the living alike.
We are working tirelessly for this sacred goal, both yesterday and today. We are doing everything possible to seize every opportunity, every crack, every opening, and I won’t go into further detail on this.
I said last week, when I visited our forces in Gaza, and I repeat it again today: Anyone who dares to harm the lives of our hostages – their blood is on their hands.
And alongside this, I said, and I say again today: Anyone who brings a living hostage out of Gaza will receive five million dollars, and others who provide valuable information will also be rewarded.
I appeal to the residents of Gaza: You can choose life and secure your future and the future of your family, or you can choose destruction and death. The decision is in your hands – choose life.
