since most people dont know much about I.T or tech in general let me break it down WIFI internet or internet in general works in limited environments so you cant have unlimited amount of data per secound. To simplify lets compare it to shipping company who has a limited amount of trucks going from Nyc to La each day. and can only handle 500 boxes. can I now sneak some boxes on to a truck because the trucks are going any way? obviously not since I am occupying space that belongs to someone(if i load 10 boxes he can now… Read more »

Problem with the comparison

why according to the Raavad would we say that he would consider taking Wi-Fi as gneiva, he brought a pasuk from
“yom terua …lachem”, i.e. this is a special pasuk which shows you have to own the Shofar. How do we compare that to Wi-Fi where it does not say “lachem”?

Which Kuntres was the Rabbi quoting from?

Why not?

There are places that provide free wi-fi to attract customers using computers — public libraries or Starbucks

Public wifi like optimum wifi and Let’s say Target wifi are probably not an issue.I have stopped logging on to other wifis since it might be a problem

Bottom Line!

From the 10 minute video one cannot and should not come to any Halachik conclusion. The only purpose of the video is the give you enough understanding, that there is a problem with just hitching onto any WiFi that is open. One must ask their Rov, before even attempting to use someone’s internet without permission.

Encryption does not slow down the flow of internet. Wireless devices are made to handle it.

1) how do you knowhat he is not using his internet ? 2) are we saying kofin al midas sdom on a goy? 3) sometimes stores are giving free service BECAUSE they are getting business from you, they surely don’t want this kind of parasites… 4) MAYBE the wifi waves belongs to the internet company and they are giving permission to their customers to use according their plan they are paying for and if so, it’s not up to your neighbour to decide whether he gives permission or not, the company owns the wifi waves and they BEFEIRUSH don’t let… Read more »

Computer WiFi internet questions.

There is a third possibility that someone does not even know, that a password is needed, and that person, if told that people are using their internet, he will block it. There is even another reason why someone leaves the internet without password, as to speed up the internet. (Through the use of a password, files, and internet are encrypted and de-crypted) slowing down the flow of the internet. Therefore, there is the possibility, that he is Makpid. Also, how does one know when the internet is used? Day or night, and furthermore, IF the paying owner of the internet… Read more »
