I believe you missed the point. The concern is not about commercializing a product or even a service (certification) . It’s about commercializing the very word “kosher”. This is somewhat akin to copyrighting the word “kosher” to be used exclusively for one’s own product.

Hilarious

Hahaha,,, did they really say this?,,,, applicant for dot-kosher, Kosher Marketing Assets, saying it seeks to profit from a sacred tradition that shouldn’t be over-commercialized.
Hahahahaha isn’t that what these kashrut organizations have been doing all the time

Fighting always destroys!

Had all the companies filed together at first this could have been a great new way to prevent un-kosher/non-kosher/fraudulent products from entering the food and sacred items markets. Having any Sofer, Restaurant, etc. that uses .kosher for their domain pass a basic set of requirements (set by the agencies together) would be wonderful.
Instead we have this fight, which will likely lead to limits on how we can control the GTLD/domain. this will result in the reform ‘Tikun Olam’ demolition team getting their hands on this. and the opposite effect will occur. 🙁
