Iran says it has launched “tens” of surface-to-surface missiles at Iraq’s Ain Assad air base housing U.S. troops over America’s killing of a top Iranian general, AP reports.
State TV described it early Wednesday as Tehran’s revenge operation over the killing of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard then warned the U.S. and its regional allies against retaliating over the missile attack in Iraq. The Guard issued the warning via a statement carried by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.
“We are warning all American allies, who gave their bases to its terrorist army, that any territory that is the starting point of aggressive acts against Iran will be targeted,” The Guard said.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in its Telegram channel that, in the event Iranian soil is bombed, it will target the cities of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Haifa, Israel, in the third wave of operations, CNN reported.
U.S. forces could not be immediately reached for comment. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said the White House is aware of the reports.
“The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team,” she said.
“All is well!” President Trump tweeted Tuesday evening.
“Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties; damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far!”

Iran Won't Risk Harm to its Nuclear Facilities
January 8, 2020 1:27 am
Iran chose to attack in a minimal way because they don’t want to give the US or Israel a reason to bomb their nuclear research facilities until they produce a nuclear bomb.
Even if the US did not kill the Iranian General, Iran would still have been working towards a nuclear bomb.
Let’s see if there will be international outrage after Iran said it would attack Israel and Saudi Arabian cities ? Isn’t it against international law to target innocent civilians / non-combatants ?
