Seymor J. Abrams Cheder Lubavitch preschool in Chicago held their annual end of the year interactive day this week. Parents, grandparents, great grandparents and siblings attended a fun-filled day.
Mrs. Lakey Silber, preschool director, explained the annual tradition, and why the school does not have a formal graduation ceremony on a stage for many years now. “We created an end of year celebration with children and parents interacting and sharing the year’s accomplishments together,” she says.
The teachers and children prepared beautful centers which included decorating cookies, coloring Aleph Bais hats, arranging picture collages, playing Aleph Bais games, decorating tzedakah boxes and painting name plaques. All the classes had short sing-a-longs with the parents gathered around the circle and then each child received a diploma.
Other highlights of the day were going on a treasure hunt throughout the school and finding treasures and riding a CTA train around the Cheder grounds. Ending off the day, the Cheder family had a delicious pizza lunch.
Mrs. Gitel Kanter, a parent, commented, “We moved to Chicago specifically for the chinuch here – and we are very confident that we made the right choice!”
Mrs. Devorah Schwartz added: “I wish I could bottle up the day. There was such enthusiasm and good feelings throughout the day. My children are on a high.”
