Inspirational Shabbos at Ohel

Rain on Friday night and heat on Shabbos day didn't deter the many spending Shabbos at the Rebbe's Ohel from inspirational davening, learning and farbrenging throughout. Women and children were there too. Photos

Achdus
June 25, 2012 11:35 am

All i can say is “WOW!” This was an amazing Shabbos. Walking into the tent for the meal Friday night ans seeing a sea of Yidden, Old, young, black hats, no hats, shtreimels…. It was so well organized, from the beds, to the food. It is very clear their is only 1 Rosh Bnei Yisroel who is as alive today as every through his Chasiddim. Yasher Koach to everyone involved in putting this together. Next time, with the Rebbe in Yerushalayim

Why dont they use the tent for the kinnus?

THAT'S UNITING?
June 25, 2012 10:41 am

number 31. I’m not talking about people who all think alike getting together to continue to think alike and lo and behold a MIRACLE they are united! (is this a joke?) I’m talking about spending shabbos with thousands of people who DON’T necessarily think just like you and spending a UNITED shabbos with them YES AND AGAIN YES, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO BRING MOSHIACH. And, yes I would never subject myself to spending a shabbos at a cemetary! Just like the Rebbe never did. NUMBER 27: NO I don’t have a new Rebbe (chas vesholom)! why would I… Read more »

June 24, 2012 7:53 pm

woooo!!

why all the negative look at the posotive!!!!!
June 24, 2012 7:45 pm

there might have been a few things that may have upset you all but look at the posotive side of this…..thousands of lubavitchers united for one shobbos to make the rebbe proud and hearing about this i am sure that the rebbe had tonz of nachas!!! why be negative when you can be posotive!!! instead of saying the cup is half empty say the cup is half full!!!!!!

amazing to see
June 24, 2012 6:48 pm

what a pity i did not fly in for this!
to num 17, u r right, this was the largest lubavitch event in many years, and it just shows where lubavitch can be found….
to num 30, u prob have never been to the ohel for shabbos, u would see proper achdus for 24 hours, learning farbrenging, all ages & levels
as one person commented, the only problem is we r still in golus

THE REAL PICTURE
June 24, 2012 6:20 pm

what all these pictures are showing me is how many poor families could have benefited for weeks from the money spent for this Shabbos. totally unnecessary. Perhaps if these thousands that were there for shabbos would have spent it in crown heights, in the Rebbe’s shchuna in brotherly love with their fellow lubavitchers that stayed in Crown Heights they would not only have saved thousands but very possibly could have brought about the hisgalus of Melech hamoshiach through their uniting with each other at such an auspicious time. what a shame to have lost this opportunty!!!!!!!

number 27
June 24, 2012 6:01 pm

Yes, the Rebbe always spent Shabbos with his chasidim.

Shabbos at Cemetary
June 24, 2012 3:08 pm

Of all the thousands of people at the ohel for shabbos I can vouch that there was not a single ONE that has a hiskashrus to the Rebbe as strong as the Rebbe’s hiskashrus was to the Frierdike Rebbe. yet the Rebbe NEVER EVER spent a shabbos at the Ohel! even when Yud shvat came out on a Shabbos!!! The question begs to be asked ??????

Nothing to do with the Real Picture
June 24, 2012 2:00 pm

These pics are all from well after Shabbos. On Friday night you could not move from one end of the tent to the other. It was standing room only and it was jam packed. I was with the Mayanot group. We had Shiurim and Farbrengins non stop. Frriday night from Rabbi Chazan. The highlight was a 2 hour shiur on Veateh Tetzaveh from Rabbi Shmuel Braun ( he’s moving to the US soon to head up a MMayanot presence in Manhattan & will be giving his famous Tuesday night Shiur in CH). BTW, many other people joined the 40 strong.… Read more »

Largest chabad event in recent years?
June 24, 2012 11:49 am

This was the la rgest chabad (not shluchim exclusive) event I have been to in most liklikely 18 years… The place was pretty pure and had a warmth of equality and friendship. Only problem was, that we are still in golus. All those seeing negativuty with candels will find it, collive full time commentators included.

i dont know where you were. are you refering to the fact that they did not let the mashke flow like water (thank G-d) and things looked normal? there were farbrengens all through the night and day. Others chose to sit and learn all afternoon. I was at the ohel many time for shabbos. this was one of the most inspirational.

I Was There
June 24, 2012 10:50 am

To # 4, 6, 9, 10, It was an amazing shabbos, considering the circumstances that R”L it is 18 years after gimel tamuz, i don’t know where you were but i was by a number of farbrengens over shabbos, granted that they may of been hard to find but only because this year in order to keep things organised the farbrengens and meals were for the most part had to be far away from the actual ohel. and i am not sure where you were, in the last tent after mincha everyone was sitting together and there was a seder… Read more »

the place to be
June 24, 2012 10:45 am

the ohel is the place to be on shabbos gimmel tammuz it was really beautiful to see every one davining learning farbreinging…

June 24, 2012 10:39 am

if we were making an article of every place that there was a farbrengen gimmel tammuz, we would have to make another whole website just for that.
they mentioned this, cuz this is where most of the great shluchim, anash ect… were

How about a story of inspiration in crown heights?
June 24, 2012 10:31 am

why is the Ohel the only important place? how about interviewing people in Crown Heights? how about the thousands of guests that came to Kan Tzivah HAshem es Habrocha For Shabbos the many that farbrenged in the shuls etc???

Was there
June 24, 2012 10:23 am

I was there. Most have cost a pretty penny. Very mesudar. Tents, beds, food beshefa …all was top notch.

Only problem was that the heavy Friday night rains flooded one of tents and turned the floor into a massive swimming pool with water up to ankles. Nu nu.

The oilem was well behaved and courteous with the neighbors. Many mekurovim and peilishe chasidim.

Since when are farbrengens organized and with a speaker? Its supposed to be sponteneous and heaet to heart

Same old Same old
June 24, 2012 9:51 am

I agree. Why couldn’t there be speakers to go to the podium and yell out Od Mosai with Divrei Hisorerus… these pictures show shmoozing with a cup of coffee… no different than shmoozing on Kingston and President… and like why does everyone have to play with their blackberry the minute they arrive? Shut your cells and get down to learning a serious sicha with a crowd of yingeleit. I think the shluchim convention is light years ahead of this gathering.

i spy......

A groise Yasher Koach
June 24, 2012 9:19 am

Should go to the janitorial staff who must have worked round the clock to keep the Ohel area, the house, tents & neighborhood clean. Does anyone know if those neighbors who only complain even though their dingy little homes are now worth 5x what they should be have stopped whining yet? Was it clean & quiet enough for them? It was 48 hours. Back to normal now.

June 24, 2012 8:38 am

Shabbos at the Ohel were KA”H around 5000 people. The Gashmiyus – food – was Blei Gevul. Great. A pity that the Ruchnius part was nothing to write home about. There were literately hundreds and hundreds of Bouchrim and Yungeleit wasting their time and being bored all day! Why couldn’t the Ruchnias aspect be organized?! Everyone davening together and some good speakers or Farbrangers with people sitting around in an organized fashion. There was none of that. It was a real pity to miss such a good opportunity.

Who paid for it?
June 24, 2012 4:37 am

I estimate about 5.000-6.000 people where there Shabbos, the budget I imagine was somewhere between $500k and $1M, so I’m just curious to know who sponsored it..

I see you
