The NYPD 71st Precinct will be cracking down on illegal motorized scooters in the Crown Heights neighborhood, COLlive has learned.
“Due to numerous complaints from residents about motorized scooters being driven on the sidewalks in the neighborhood, we will be taking action against the restaurants and establishment whose employees are using motorized scooters,” Detective Vinny Martinos told COLlive.
Complaints have been registered at the 71st Precinct of children and elderly individuals close to getting struck by the electric scooters, Martinos said.
The scooters, which are illegal to drive in New York, will be confiscated by police, as well as a summons will be issued to the operator and the store who employs them, he said.
They will get away with it.
I once saw a bumper sticker, and it said on it: “if you don’t like the way I drive, get off the sidewalk”.
Yes right before Peisah when pizza 🍕 will be the only food they will fine all, be ready …
I was at a “Build the Block” event held by the 71st Pct where this matter was brought to attention. When you show up the precinct sees we are serious and they take action. More of us need to show up and put in our effort.
No more late night pizza delivery…
Pedestrians on the sidewalk should not feel like they are on the road.
What did businesses do before this mishugas took
over the streets?
How about the stores that do operate them only on the streets and they walk them back on the sidewalks by the store it’s a tremendous loss to local buisness pharmacy restaurants etc
Does this mean only if driven on the sidewalks, or in general?
BORUCH HASHEM
I’ve almost been hit by several times in front of my home on Union Street by scooters speeding on the sidewalk.
