Thousands of holiday shoppers, tourists and business people in Midtown Manhattan Wednesday witnessed the sculpting and lighting of a 12 foot ice menorah in front of Chabad of Midtown Manhattan.
Situated on Fifth Avenue off 42nd Street – one of the busiest corners on earth – this event was a real example of “Persumei Nissa.”
Using chainsaws, chisels and large ice bricks, professional “ice men” sculpted the tall, exquisite ice menorah.
Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger of Chabad of Midtown climbed a ladder to kindle the lanterns and made the blessings before the large crowd.
Hundreds of menorahs, donuts, dreidels and latkes were distributed to the crowds in attendance.
