Yes, most of the people there were good people – like you. But please don’t leave out the part where the president whom you came to support was said clearly and openly to march to the Capital, to ‘be strong’ and not be ‘weak’…what do you think he had in mind?? Is he so stupid or so delusional that he didn’t know how at least some of his supporters in that group would take it?? He wasn’t talking to you – you don’t matter to him; he was talking to the backpackers who brought arms! He was talking to the… Read more »

Im afraid youre buying into the CNN narrative that the instigators of violence and property destruction would want to stick as the indelible take-away message of what happened. Nancy Pelosi, whos admitted holding-back financial relief to people who lost their business to riots (where the arsons were released with the funds given by Kamala Harris) is even bringing a motion to have Trump impeached today. We cant join their narrative. When Trump was pleading for strength, what he meant was expressed by Senator Ted Cruz from Texas: There were 6 States which were contested because of significant findings of systemic… Read more »

Although we respect and admire Trump as “Friend of the Jews,” he tends to speak before his brain engages. Unfortunately this gives fodder to the Left when thy attack him, and tends to get him in trouble. He made some wonderful decisions but for whatever reason Hashem chose for him to serve for 4 years, and a return to idiots to be in charge…

Um what??????

I personally appreciate what Trump has done and that he has done his job with a pleasant demeanor.

Are you for real?

Thank you!

Thank you for writing this.

Amazing to see how people have forgotten about the Antifa/BLM violence and looting several months ago that caused over a billion dollars in damages and vandalized almost a dozen shuls around the country.

January 7, 2021 12:04 pm

At previous rallies in DC, Antifa was visible. At this rally, there was no visible Antifa. They could easily have been embedded in the crowds, appearing to be Trump supporters.

Maybe people are who they say they are not everything is a false flag

You were one of thousands at a rally. You obviously were looking through rose colored lenses. Those of us who followed on the internet or radio were horrified and even terrified. Probably no frum people participated in the attempt to overturn our democracy. At least I hope so.

Because “the internet or radio” tell only the truth, and don’t slant anything, right?

And no one was trying to “overturn our democracy” (we’re a republic, by the way, not a democracy), but to exercise their constitutional right to protest (and not the kind of “protesting” that means looting and arson, either).

Talking about looking through a censored glass, how can your argument possibly be, “those of us watching on the internet/radio” vs someone there on site, don’t be blinded.

I would never defend the violence, and won’t blame it completely on antifa.

But please do not use the media as your reference to argue with this women watched first hand.

As a media professional myself (though not a news one), I agree with this. Multiple cameras represent multiple sets of eyes. Collective commentary is tantamount to “two heads are better than one,” and edited media is (potentially) intellectually greater than the sum of it’s components. That’s why we have it. I’m not saying the media has no slant and that it doesn’t sensationalize things (they do want to keep you watching), but referring to the media as one whole Leftist force against humanity is nothing short of a CONSPIRACY. The very idea that one person’s account/perspective should be held to a higher standard than the reportage of the day is ill-thought-out. The reporting takes footage from many vantage points whereas the individual only has their own – a single shot of the day’s events. I’m glad she didn’t run into any of the Proud Boys wearing those Anti-Semetic shirts. And I’m glad the media was able to gather enough footage to capture that image for the world to see. Otherwise, how would she know who her fellow marchers were? How would you? Although, I’d expect that you’d say they… Read more »

Nuance is important. Yes not everyone wanted to storm the capital. Not everyone was angry and violent.
But at the same time it is very clear what happened here, by propagating completely debunked conspiracies about election fraud trump invited these ppl to the point where they became violent.
He told the crouds of ppl chearing for him to go to the capital and protest.
Problem is when you rise the temperature that much you can no longer control the outcome.

The confederate flag was in the South. We fought a war to remove it from the Capitol. Yesterday white supremists dragged through the Capitol building. The Democratic party of today is not socialist. It’s liberal. Liberalism isn’t socialism. The Republican party of today has changed tremendously. It used to be moderate. Now it’s become extremely right wing.
