Nearly 1,000 people turned out on Tuesday for an antibody testing drive in Crown Heights.
Many residents in the Crown Heights community had contracted and recovered from the coronavirus, so they may be eligible to join the drive to donate plasma which can potentially save the life of a coronavirus patient.
The COVID-19 IGG antibody testing drive was organized by Crown Medical PC, The Gedaliah Society, Hatzalah of Crown Heights, Kamin Health, and Lakewood Bikur Cholim, partnering with the Mayo Clinic.
The plasma kits were provided by the Mayo Clinic, one of the world’s premier medical institutions.
The Crown Heights event joins other testing events in Jewish communities in Flatbush, Boro Park, Lakewood and Baltimore, in which thousands of Orthodox Jews lined up to donate plasma.
It is important to note that becoming a donor due to high antibody levels does not allow you to conclude that you are safe. Please continue to follow the guidelines and instructions being set forth by The Gedaliah Society in conjunction with Dr. Rosen.
The Crown Heights drive in was held in honor of Rabbi Don Yoel Levy, OBM and R’ Avrohom Aharon Rubashkin OBM.
