Why do you always assume everyone in CH had the virus?

Because it’s inevitable. Unless you and your family stayed home, and no one came in for months…

Concerned in MA

As a nursing supervisor in a MA hospital I’d like to say thanks for your calm, concise, and science based information. It’s applicable to any group of people anywhere and much appreciated. The one thing that I would ask is this: could you let people know that even though they cannot visit in the hospital, there’s still ways to reassure yourself about the status of a loved one. Test if have had 1 pregnancy?
April 28, 2020 12:30 pm

I’ve seen mentioned several times that women who have had at least 1 pregnancy should not get tested due to the TRALI antibody. I cannot explain details, as I am a lay person and do not have full understanding.
I am asking for clarification on this. Should women be tested who have had at least 1 pregnancy?
Thank you.

The TRALI concern is only an issue for transfusions. This means women who have been pregnant twice should not donate plasma. This is for the safety of transfusion patients.

Just testing for antibodies however, with no donation involved is perfectly fine.

When it comes to testing on a global scale, there needs to be clear-cut guidelines. While you may be in wonderful health, you are “discriminated against” simply because you fall into the 65+ category, which is considered high risk, as 8 of 10 deaths are in the 65+ population. This statistic is too significant to start making exceptions for minority deviations.
