Hundreds of people filled three halls at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum on Thursday evening for the Inauguration Ceremony of Assembly Member Brian Cunningham.
Assembly Member Cunningham was sworn into office by NY State Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado. Speaking at the event was Senator Chuck Schumer who also presented the Pin of office to the Assembly Member.
The event began with the singing of G-d Bless America and Oseh Shalom by Cantor Shlomie Rabin. Crown Heights community activist Rabbi Yaacov Behrman gave an invocation, and noted that the uniting of the different communities living in Crown Heights led to the Assembly Member’s election victory.
“Every day I am grateful to have the honor of serving this special community,” Assembly Member Cunningham said in his speech. “Distinct among others for its remarkable diversity — where else can one find oxtails and cholent within a 5-minute radius? These are special neighborhoods which brought us many firsts – the first black woman in congress, Shirley Chisholm, The first black man to lead the democratic party – Crown Heights’ very own Hakeem Jeffries, and Chuck Schumer, who is the highest ranking Jewish man to hold office in American history.”
In attendance were Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Senator Chuck Schumer, NYS Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, NYS Senators John Liu, Leroy Comrie and Roxanne Persaud, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Assemblymembers Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Carl Heastie, Marcela Mitayes, Eddie Gibbs, Monique Waterman, Jessica González-Rojas, David Weprin, Grace Lee, Alex Bores, Nikki Lucas, Manny De Los Santos, George Alvares, Khalil Anderson, Charles Fall, Katalina Cruz, Alicia Hyndman, NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Council Members Chi Osse, Rita Joseph and Farah Louis, NYS Lt Governor Antonio Delgado, Rabbi Eli Cohen – Executive Director of the CHJCC, and Crown Heights activist Yossi Hershkop.
Assembly Member Cunningham represents the 43rd district in the New York State Assembly which includes the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Lefferts Gardens.

Did any one mention to him the shelter that is being opened on clarkson and Albany threatening the safety of our young woman and children ? This is in addition to the ones being proposed to be built in Rutland road. Friends , please take a minute and email mr Cunningham. NO other neighborhood has this amount of shelters in such a small radius . This is in addition to kings county and the ones on eastern parkway and Troy . Our neighborhood is being damaged heavily .

There are Jewish homeless people.There are jewish Orthodox Jewish people.There are Orthodox Jewish Chabad people that are homeless!This is the answer !
My friend, I am sorry to disagree with you but the amount of gain to pain is incomparable. I feel sorry for the jewish chabad Homeless but that is an issue we can take care of ourselves with out having to bring in 763 MORE Homeless to town.
