At a moment when uncertainty feels unavoidable, Chayenu has released a new Hebrew edition of its widely popular Gate of Trust, making its contemporary explanations, commentary, and guided insights accessible to Hebrew readers for the first time.
In today’s world, you never know what will greet you when you open the news in the morning. Turmoil in the Middle East. Rising global antisemitism. Financial uncertainty is hitting close to home. Or, maybe a piece of good news.
Some face this reality with fear, weighed down by worry over what tomorrow may bring. Others move through it differently, grounded in an inner calm and a deep trust in Hashem, an anchor that holds even as the storms rage.
That anchor is Sha’ar Habitachon, the Gate of Trust.
Authored in the eleventh century by Rabbeinu Bachya ibn Pekuda, Sha’ar Habitachon equips the reader to face life’s uncertainties with unshakable trust in Hashem, cultivating clarity and tranquility.
In 2019, Chayenu began serializing the work, originally written in Judeo-Arabic and translated into Hebrew in the twelfth century, presenting it with a new English translation alongside classic and Chassidic commentary. In 2021, the full work was released in partnership with Kehot Publication Society as a single, cohesive volume.
Featuring a clear translation, rich Chassidic insights, and practical “bottom line” takeaways, the book quickly gained prominence. Classes sprang up around the world, tens of thousands of copies were sold, a dedicated podcast and website were launched, and countless readers were deeply moved by its message of trust.
The impact soon reached beyond English speakers. Portuguese and Spanish editions followed, with additional languages already in development. Yet for Hebrew readers, while the original text was accessible, albeit in an archaic and cryptic form, the contemporary explanations and commentary remained just out of reach.
Until now.
Chayenu’s new Hebrew edition of Sha’ar Habitachon, in partnership with Kehot Publication Society, presents the full experience in Hebrew: a contemporary Hebrew translation, comprehensive commentary, and thoughtful design. It is a book meant to be lived with, studied deeply, and shared, first with oneself, and then with others.
The past few years have brought profound challenges to our brethren in the Holy Land, and to their families everywhere. This work offers a way to prevent those challenges from turning into fear and anxiety by reconnecting to enduring trust in Hashem.
Chayenu is grateful to Getzy & Alisa Fellig and Howard & Claire Glowinsky for their generosity in making the Hebrew edition available.
