Rabbi Mendy Traxler, Program Director of Chabad Outreach of Houston, has been named in the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2016.
The prestigious award annually recognizes 40 of the Greater Houston area’s influential professionals under the age of 40.
Honorees have to be nominated and are chosen by judges based on leadership, overcoming challenges and community involvement. Over 500 nominee applications were submitted for the award this year, according to the publication.
“It is an honor to be included in this group of highly talented individuals who make a difference in the lives of Houstonians,” Rabbi Traxler told COLlive.com. “This recognition is not about me, but rather the dedicated work of all of the Rebbe’s Shluchim.”
This is the first time that a Rabbi has landed a spot on HBJ’s elite 40 Under 40 list.
Rabbi Traxler’s involvement in varied city wide programming caught their attention. From the Chanukah Fest, Houston Kosher Chili Cookoff, Living Legacy, Chanukah Float – Thanksgiving Day Parade 2013 and his involvement with the prisoners and prison system as a chaplain to Texas prisons and Jails among other activities.
Jewish community members have been expressing their delight and pride in seeing a religious Jew and Lubavitcher on this list.
sooooo happy, and proud that he represented the Rebbe, Chasidus and HaShem in this way! It gives me a chizuk!
