Please Help Bury A Meis Mitzvah: 59 Year Old Yid in Vernon British Columbia:
A 59 year old Yid named Pesach who lived in Vernon, Canada with his two sons ages 14 and 13, passed away in his sleep last Monday due to Covid-19 complications. His sister who lives in Montreal, does not have any money to pay for a Jewish burial, and wanted him cremated R’l due to the cost of having a Jewish Burial in British Columbia (approx. 14,000- Canadian Dollars).
Upon hearing of the urgent situation, Chabad Shluchim in Kelowna, British Columbia Rabbi Shmuly Hecht, and Rabbi Chaim Boyarsky of Ottawa are working to ensure that the necessary funds are raised today to ensure a proper Jewish Burial for Pesach.
Estimated cost is 14,000 Canadian or 11,000 USD. If this money is C’V not raised within a day or two, the sister may R’L go ahead with the cremation.
Please Help in This Urgent and Priceless Mitzvah.

This seems to be a more common issue, rachamana litzlan. Not specific to this particular situation in the article but I’ve heard regarding other areas in the USA, people just don’t know what is proper anymore. Some so-called Jewish funeral homes offer services that are hapoch Yiddishkeit. When was it even an option to have a fancy casket, suit and tie, etc., let alone a cremation, G-d protect us!
