Monday night COLlive Torah: Rabbi YY Jacobson, spiritual leader of congregation Bais Shmuel and one of the most sought after speakers in the Jewish world, presents a fascinating class, “To cook or to roast — that is the question.”
Has modernity crippled us? Have our standards changed dramatically because of our interaction with the world? And what can we do about it? Let’s hear what the Maharal says about it.
The class explores five reasons, from Peshat, to Maharal, to Chassidus why the Karban Pesach was forbidden to be cooked. The class explores also the novel explanation of the Rebbe discovered in his private journals.
The weekly class by Rabbi Jacobson is presented Mondays 8:30 PM EST on TheYeshiva.net and on COLLive.
The video is available for replay and for MP3 and mp4 download. Please sign in to watch.
according to each explanation, we can understand it. the basic reason is: it looks like makriv karban bachutz, sacrificing outside of Beis Hamikdash. on a deeper level: 1. We are not completely free today. 2. we need more “kalim” and “shuv” now. too much thurst in galus can cripple us. 3. we are influenced by culture around us, because of galus. YYJ
