The Vaad Hatmimim and JEM have announced the names of Bochurim that passed week 2 of Hanachos program.
The Hanachos program, now in its second year in 12 Mesivtas across America, has Bochurim prepare themselves for Gimmel Tammuz by watching videos of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens and writing a Hanacha on the Sicha. The goal is that at the end of the five-week program, bochurim are able to focus on watching a full Farbrengen of the Rebbe and understand what the Rebbe is saying.
This week, the program required bochurim to watch several 10-minute long videos to participate in level one and 18-minute long videos to participate in level two.
Hundreds of bochurim have taken this week’s test, see below for the list of bochurim who have passed the Hanachos test for week two.
Over 200 bochurim also submitted written Hanachos from 13 participating Mesivtas, with the top two Hanachos chosen by the Maniach for this week: Berel Silberberg of Mesivta Lubavitch Chicago, written in Yiddish and Yechiel Zirkind of Mesivta Lubavitch Coral Springs written in English.

Hanacha by Yechiel Zirkind of Mesivta Lubavitch Coral Springs
All the things that we mentioned before בקשר to י״ב וי״ג תמוז has a שייכות every year from תרפ״ז (the year of the גאולה) until this year however every year has its own specific הוראות and so too this year תשל״ז also has special הוראות. This year is the fiftieth year since the גאולה which happened in תרפ״ז.
Fifty years is a עולם and a very significant milestone. You can ask יובל in תורה was only counted with all אידן not for individuals that the fiftieth year is special rather there is only one יובל for the entire כלל ישראל and it wasn’t counted individually like other things rather the בית דין counted first the שמיטות then the יובל (like the famous מחלוקת whether they are dependent on one another if יובל can only be observed if the שמיטות are counted or even without the count of the שמיטות nevertheless) both שמיטות and יובלות are both counted together by all אידן.
These מצוות have a lot of conditions: שמיטה are connected with the land and especially ארץ ישראל and even more by יובל which is only when all the אידן are living in ארץ ישראל. However here we are talking about a יובל which seemingly is only for an individual and a thing that happened during his life time but we do find an individual יובל. First we will find a individual שמיטה: besides the general שמיטה counted for all אידן, there is a specific שמיטה for a עבד עברי which שש שנים יעבד ובשביעית יצא לחופשי חנם and his years are counted separately.
Similarly, we find by the count of שבת that וביום שביעי שבתון is for all אידן בכל מושבותיכם but if a איד is lost in the desert and he loses track of time he counts six days and the seventh day is שבת (or the opposite way around according to the other opinions) which according to some opinions is שבת מן התורה. Similarly we also find an individual יובל: the עולם of the לויים is for his 50 years not 50 years for the entire שבט but for his 50 years. We learn this from שמואל הנביא which was also a לוי that it says וישב שם עד עולם and his עבודה started was weaned (which is at 2 years old after 24 months of weaning) and then he remained in שילה עד עולם and he lived for 52 years and from here we learn that the עולמו של לוי is 50 years and then ושב מעבודת המשא וכו׳ which is an individual יובל for every לוי.
We also find a יובל for a specific event as the בעל הגאולה writes in the הקדמה to קונטרוס החלצו (the famous מאמר of his father on the פסוק החלצו מכם אנשים which was first published 50 years after it was originally said) that the זוהר says that the יובל which is written in פרשת בהר is connected to יובל ישלח שרשיו because יובל and יובל have the same letters.
The פשט if the פסוק יובל ישלח שרשיו is that it is referring to a tree that was planted on the fertile banks of יובל and then the tree spreads out its roots which is similar to the יובל that the תורה mentions in פרשת בהר. From here we see two things that there is a יובל for a specific tree which is planted on יובל and we plant a tree in general (as the מדרש says on the פסוק גפן ממצרים תשיאה) that the nature of a vine and trees in general if one wants to make it even better he uproots it and plants it somewhere else and then it becomes even better and we count the 50 years from when it was replanted. It has its unique יובל.
Therefore the בעל הגאולה writes when the קונטרוס החלצו was published 50 years after his father was originally said it, even though it is only one of his father’s מאמרים out of the מאמרים he said and the קונטרסים that he wrote and everything else that he did throughout his lifetime but for this מאמר a special milestone happened when the שנת היובל came. The same is also in regards to our situation which 50 years since the גאולה the first time we now know to make a יובל based on the בעל הגאולה׳ס פסק as is known the תורת הבעל שם טוב on 2 משניות: 1) נפרעין מן אדם מדעתו ושלא מדעתו. 2) לפני מי אתה עתיד לתן דין וחשבון that the question is “isn’t it the opposite, first you give חשבון then דין?” The בעל שם טוב explains the משניות together that the משנה means when it says נפרעין מן האדם מדעתו ושלא מדעתו that a איד is presented with a case similar to his but with a different person and when he says this is what should be the verdict which is דין which מדעתו then we make the חשבון of what he did in his life and even if he disagrees now (שלא מדעתו) now, the verdict will be as he judged the other person, this is talking about punishments so קל וחומר in regards to good things.
If the Rebbe says something about his father that the fiftieth year is הצלחה מיוחדת and has a special meaning then in regards to his יובל he פסק׳ן the דין on himself that today has הצלחה מיוחדת and if we work ביתר שאת וביתר עז to do all that the בעל הגאולה demands of every איד even those that are only Jewish in name (as he writes in his famous letter). We have extra power and more success in an ever-growing way.
The הצלחה that is connected to יובל is also connected to and is explained in the way is was actually done as is explained in פרשת בהר. What happens by יובל is that ושב איש לאחוזתו that the fields return to the מוכר from the קונה and similarly עבדים ויצאו לחרות. This can be explained in 2 ways: 1) (as the גמרא calls it) אפקדתא דמלכא that ה׳ is גוזר and He abolishes the קנין of the field or slave that the field should go back to its original owner and slaves go free. 2) that the תורה makes a precondition that it’s only until יובל (or even before that based the many details in this case) and this is גזירת המלך.
Like the Rogitchover explains in his fashion which’s מעשה הוא העיקר that no matter how deep the שקלא וטריא is at the end we have to ask מאי בנייהו ולמאי נפקא מינה במעשה בפועל לענין פרטי ולדבר פרטי, so too here we have to ask what is the difference between the two explanations? One of the differences mentioned is if one sold his field when יובל applied but before יובל came it was בטל (which actually happened at the חורבן בית ראשון that according to everyone יובל was being observed but because of גלות it was בטל as רש״י brings in his פירוש על התורה on the words ואם יהיה היובל which implies that there’s a time that it’s בטל.)
So according to the first opinion the sale of the field is לצמיתות since originally it was לצמיתות but the אפקדתא דמלכא says that on יובל it is returned so if יובל is בטל then it’s לצמיתות, but according to the second opinion that it is not אפקדתא דמלכא rather a ציווי of the תורה which says it’s not לצמיתות as the לשון of the פסוק that we don’t sell לצמיתות כי לי כל הארץ so לכתחילה it was only until יובל so whether or not יובל was בטל afterwards it is only binding until יובל.
The first explanation seems right because יובל only takes away the קנין of a קנין גמור that if one sells something for a certain amount of years and then it returns to its owner, it doesn’t return by יובל even if יובל is in effect, because יובל only takes away a קנין גמור. Like we see by punishment that it works if you do the שיעור but for חצי שיעור punishment doesn’t help. And find this in many things like נדרים it has to be a complete נדר in all its details in order to annul it and the same is by יובל that if a sale has an end date whether it is יובל or a different time, יובל is never מבטל a sale because it was limited to יובל.
How is this relevant to our discussion? All these aspects apply to all individual יובלות and since אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים but since for הלכה למעשה we need to פסק׳ן like one person if they are 2 opposites but if they are not 2 opposites and we can follow both opinions then we are strict like 2 opinions and fulfill both of them like it is known as the גמרא says that if we פסק׳ן like one opinion and he says otherwise he is כסיל בחושך הולך but you are not if you are taking it as a הידור not because the הלכה is like both.
This is also by ענינים רוחנים we can follow both opinions: that when יובל comes it is a decree of ה׳ (according to the first opinion) that ה׳ begins and blesses us with extra success and the second opinion that we set the precondition that by יובל we take on a higher level of עבודה and since we rare מעלין בקודש so our עבודה will be ביתר שאת וביתר עז than it was throughout the past יובל years and therefore through this we fulfill אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים.
