To the best of our knowledge, there remain no new cases of confirmed COVID within our community over the past few weeks. Presumably, this is due to the large percentage of Crown Heights that has been already affected, conferring a substantial degree of immunity to us as a community. We hope and pray that this trend continues, and that we see no cases in the future.
Given these continued reassuring trends, we are encouraging people to attend to all of their social needs, especially ensuring that children and the elderly receive what they need for their physical and mental health. Those who are older and at risk can associate with their immediate family, and leave their dwellings if necessary; when interacting with others, the vulnerable should still practice “social distancing”. Children and younger families (as well as others who already have been sick or have antibodies) may associate together, particularly in smaller groups, and outdoors.
We as a community are all in this together, and share a mutual responsibility for our continued wellbeing. At this point in time, the single most effective thing we can do for our continued health as a community is to ensure that we identify any new cases quickly and effectively. To that end, it is crucial that anyone who develops new COVID-like symptoms call their doctor and arrange to be tested, and strictly isolate themselves. The importance of this cannot be stressed enough, and it is each of our individual obligations to this cause that will keep us protected as a community. In addition, anyone with new symptoms should please report them here New COVID Registry.
Wishing everyone a good Shabbos,

We are already getting near phase-1 of reopening, yet playgrounds remain closed until further notice.
Who can pull some strings and get the playgrounds reopened?
What age does the term “children” represent? What exactly is a “younger family”? What’s a “social need”? Why are masks or other prudent behaviors not being encouraged? CH is not in a bubble, people come and go everyday into and out of, out of and into, CH. Why bother writing these at all? They just basically say “Um, anyone can do whatever.”
please clarify….so now whoever has not had corona and has some level of risk can do as they please???
Slow down and read. Here is what I believe they are saying, in plain English. The risk of Covid has gone down tremendously, after being super-strict and super-careful for the last few months, we can now relax quite a bit and mingle. Are they taking full responsibility that no one will get sick? No, they can’t do that, obviously. They suggest that can’t, in good conscience, tell you you remain to be locked up. From here on in, proceed w caution, but they think you can relax a bit. Can they promise you won’t get it again? Obviously not. So… Read more »
majority think and know that you can get corona again! the fact is that others are calling crown heights medical professionals when they contract it for the second time since everyone knows that you can get and our community is the proof….so maybe you should check your facts and not give opinions stated as though they are facts
Rabbi Dr. Aaron Glatt, head of infectious diseases at Mt. Sinai, said recently (Sunday 2 weeks ago) at the TIM medical ethics conference that to the best of his knowledge (and he is likely more informed on this subject than any other Orthodox Jew in the world) no country has reported a single confirmed case of anyone getting sick with COVID-19 twice!
Thank you – that is exactly what they are trying to say.
People go in and out of CH all the time. Even though wearing masks and social distancing is still MANDATORY in NY State, only about a third of CH residents are paying any attention at all. I am a vulnerable older person with health issues, I am really afraid to go on Kingston the way people are behaving. All kinds of strangers come in and out of our building, nobody is wearing masks. They all go into the elevator without masks. Do they not realize that people are still dying, we see the announcements on COL every day.
Gov. Cuomo has stated in his press conference (with his health authorities by his side) that it is potentially possible to get coronavirus again. I have read the recent studies and pronouncements by medical experts (I have a Ph.D. but am not an M.D.) and it does appear that it is possible to get it again. However, some of it seems to depend on the intensity/frequency of further contact with coronavirus. Which is why we still all have to be extremely careful.Even though many CH residents seem to think it is okay to ignore it now.
