On Thursday night, June 2nd, HaMesivta of Ocean Parkway held their first dinner in the Chovevei Torah Ballroom.
The evening opened up to a milchig buffet dinner co-sponsered by KaffKafe.
Rabbi Aron L. Raskin of Brooklyn Heights was the master of ceremonies and started the evening by proudly saying that he had 3 sons in HaMesivta, and that he is very happy with the chinuch they got there.
Rabbi Chananya Hoffinger, magid shiur in HaMesivta, said a sicha of the Rebbe, and wowed the audience with his PowerPoint presentation of the sicha and with the clarity in which he gave it over.
Rabbi Moshe Lieblich, Menahel of HaMesivta remarked that the success of HaMesivta and the success of the bochurim is due mainly to the staff. “The teachers we have are phenomenal,” he said. “I’m awed by their talent and devotion to the students. They are the ones who get the yasher koach for the ruchnius of the yeshiva.”
Former student DovBer Cohen from Crown Heights spoke of his experience in HaMesivta. “I want to go back to my first day in HaMesivta,” he said. “I remember it very clearly. I walked into the doors for the first time, I had no idea who anyone was. They made me feel right at home. They have helped me become a ‘mentch’ and into the person I am today.”
J.J. Katz, a Crown Heights resident, spoke of how his son is in HaMesivta for 2 years now, and how he saw amazing progress in his son. He spoke about the difficulty of raising teenagers saying, “If you have teenagers you’ll know what I’m talking about, they aren’t easy, but Rabbi Lieblich and the staff really go the extra mile for my the boys and son.”
A special video titled “the learning style of HaMesivta” showed how chassidus and gemara is taught, emphasizing that the yeshiva understands the difficulties students have with learning gemara and are working on ways using today’s technology to help.
The guests were then entertained by renowned ventriloquist Jonathan Geffner.
The evening was arranged and coordinated by Mrs. Dorit Antian a professional event coordinator 347-414-1827, a special thanks for her help in making this event the success it was.
Registration is well underway for the coming year 5772, to find out more about HaMesivta or to make a donation call Rabbi Moshe Lieblich at 347-234-8928 [email protected]
go tatty Katz you rock!
Thank you Rabbi Lieblich, Mrs. T. and every single one of the ibbergegebeneh staff members… all striving towards one purpose… that of being mechanech each talmid and giving them individual attention- something that is not possible in larger yeshivos.
Good Yom Tov and kol tuv. Hope you never have financial difficulties so that you may grow and go michayil el choyil, providing an asset to our community.
It is important to have a yeshiva for kids who canno learn Gemara all day
mrs T your the bomb
All the speakers were great. Short and sweet and to the point. J.J. Katz as usual was very entertaining.
