The beautiful, newly renovated Popack Recreational Center and gym at Oholei Torah will, once again, be open for elementary school boys every Monday night from 6 to 8 PM.
Last year, an average night would have 40-50 boys. Games were played in a spirit of Ahavas Yisroel and overseen by caring, responsible adults. The daily price of only two dollars will ensure that all interested children in our community can benefit from the gym.
The two hours will be broken up into two time slots. 6-7 PM will be for boys in grades four through six. 7-8 PM will be for boys in grades seven and eight.
The YAM program and the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council are spearheading this project. Volunteers are always needed to assist with this project as well as sponsors. For more information, please email [email protected].
thank you to ALL involved!
May it be in a true Yiddishe And chassidishe spirit. TYSM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It should be open every night. I would be volunteer supervisor for one night and I’m sure we could field a team of volunteers to make that happen. One hour a week is, um, very nice.
Most of us live in shoe boxes and you can’t let kids roam about in the hood, sadly.
