American energy magnate and philanthropist Guma Aguiar has prayed at the resting place of the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Sholom Ber Schneerson (Rashab) OBM.
Aguiar was in Rostov-on-Don, a city in the Southern Federal District of Russia, as part of a private tour in Jewish communities in the former Soviet Union last week.
His delegation of 12 people included Rabbi Moshe Meir Lipszyc, Shliach in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and Rabbi Mendel Sharfstein of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch in New York.
After visiting the Rebbe Rashab’s Ohel, they enter the building that served as his residence, shul, Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Yeshiva and mikvah.
They were greeted by the city’s Lubavitch Shliach and Chief Rabbi Chaim Danzinger and sevral key members of the community.
During a meal at the synagogue, Danzinger told his guests the city was once home to a bustling Jewish community with 14 splendid Synagogues and many communal institutions.
