170 people from around Guatemala City recently attended a joyous occasion that marked 10 years since Chabad-Lubavitch sent a Shluchim couple to the Central American country.
Rabbi Shalom Pelman and his wife Yael and their children were on hand to welcome the guests to a ceremony welcoming a new Torah scroll.
The last such celebration took place 2 years ago.
With a daily Minyan, members of the community decided to donate another Torah to the active synagogue at the Chabad House.
Following the writing of the last letters by participants, the crowd took to the street in song and dance.
At the festive dinner, Rabbi Pelman urged the community to keep strengthening their commitment to Judaism.
Helping Rabbi Pelman in town since Shavuos are 4 bochurim: Simcha Begun, Mendy Begun, Toive Weitman and Mendel Moskovitz.
