After many years of analyzing the many options for a permanent home, Chabad Lubavitch of New Hampshire is ready to proceed with the construction of a new Chabad Center for Jewish Living.
It was with great enthusiasm and excitement that the community joined for a groundbreaking ceremony on Lag B’Omer, May 22, 2011. Over 180 people gathered on the future site of the Chabad Center to witness and take part in this historic event for the Jewish community of New Hampshire.
“The groundbreaking ceremony and the number of Jews in our community that attended the event was really quite impressive,” said Mr. Stephen Singer, Building Campaign Chairman. “We are all very excited about the new Chabad Center and know that it will be a tremendous addition to the NH Jewish community – Kudos to Rabbi Levi and Shternie Krinsky for all they do to help make Judaism so meaningful for us. They are tremendous role models and we love the entire Krinsky family most dearly. I am delighted to be heading this building campaign that will help insure the future of Judaism in New Hampshire.”
Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Chairman of Merkos, addressed the crowd. Also featured at the event were the traditional groundbreaking by Board members, supporters and the children, live music, a delicious barbeque and a BMX and Skateboard presentation by the Northeast Trickstars.
The Chabad Center for Jewish Living, a $2 million dollar project, will be situated on a magnificent 5 acres of land on River Road and Bicentennial Drive in the North End of Manchester across from the Derryfield School and down the road from the Southern New Hampshire University.
The design of the center blends into the natural wooded surroundings. The structure will include a sanctuary, administrative offices, Judaic Library with a stone fireplace, rooms to host Camp Gan Israel, Sukkah Patio, playground and New Hampshire’s only state of the art Mikvah. The Center will retain the warm and intimate atmosphere that has attracted many to Chabad Lubavitch of New Hampshire.
Within the walls of the Chabad Center for Jewish Living, Judaism will always be vibrantly alive and filled with joy, love and awe. It will be a place where children play and learn and develop their Jewish identities, where senior adults share their wisdom and where parents learn how to transmit the joy and beauty of Judaism to the next generation.
