Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer came on Friday afternoon for a visit to the Kotel in Jerusalem and was also given a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels.
She was greeted by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, and Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.
The Governor placed a note between the stones of the Kotel and remained for some time to watch the worshippers and visitors at the Western Wall Plaza.
Whitmer took a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels, guided by the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation who showed her fascinating archaeological findings and told her about the age-old yearning of the Jewish nation for Jerusalem.
The Governor was deeply impressed by the deep connection between the Jewish nation and Jerusalem and the Western Wall, and signed the guest book with: “Thank you for a phenomenal visit and long-time important relationship with the State of Michigan.”
