One year ago, this time, we began advertising the opening of the elementary and high school uniform gemach. It was with great uncertainty that we began this project being that it would depend heavily on community support. We would need the community to help us build the inventory that would justify a mother’s trip to the gemach often with several daughters in tow.
We shouldn’t have worried! You came through!
Collecting and preparing the uniforms has been a heartwarming and positive experience for us. We have witnessed incredible chesed.
Mr. Teich of regency cleaners has helped make it possible to have each and every uniform skirt professionally pressed before it gets hung on our racks. Parents have dropped off brand new, never worn items that they either purchased for the gemach or chose not to return after buying the wrong size. We have had skirts and shirts delivered straight from the dry cleaners at the request of the donors and we received a generous donation from a Bais Rivka alumnus being that her daughter’s uniforms wouldn’t help the gemach because she lives out of town!
In short, the success of this Gemach belongs to you. You made it possible for us to offer a selection of sizes and styles. You have ensured that each mother and her daughters leave their private and confidential appointment with a sense of pride and relief.
May Hashem repay your kindness with only nachas and simchas in good health.
Wishing you a safe and healthy summer
Rochel Lustig and Chani Karp
Please help the gemach continue to build it’s inventory by dropping off gently worn skirts, shirts and sweaters for 1st -12th grades on the porch of 1287 Carroll St. or to Mrs. Pewzner in the Bais Rivka elementary office. Please note that at this time the gemach is in need of sweaters which are costly thus making it difficult for parents to purchase the several sweaters a family may need.
To Schedule an appointment with the gemach, please call (718) 493-1740 during August and leave a message. All calls will be returned.
Yup, not surprised Chani can fit this in amongst the MANY other generous things she does with her time. A doer! And always with a smile! You do your Aussie blood proud!
I would have some pants n’ shirts to send to the gemach in excellent condition!
Thank you Chani Karp & Rochel Lustig for taking initiative & creating this wonderful gemach!!
so heartwarming
uniforms should be dropped off at Carroll st or Bais Rivka. We check each uniform and do the necessary repairs such as falling hems, broken zippers, missing buttons or opened pleats before we send them to clean.
can they also be dropped off at Regency Cleaners?
please post
So proud of Crown heights!
