December 12, 2009 marked the 3rd Annual Menorah Lighting in Dallas’s trendy West Village Shopping Center, produced by The Intown Chabad.
Rabbi Zvi Drizin, head of The Intown Chabad, is known throughout the Jewish community as the fun loving Rabbi who makes Judaism exciting and interesting. True to form, both the Menorah lighting and the after party (held at The Intown Chabad) were smash hits.
With over 500 people attending at West Village, guests enjoyed complimentary fresh latkes, jelly doughnuts, and Starbucks coffee.
A live band and photo opportunity’s transformed the evening into a celebration, with a highlight being Drizin’s hilarious “Jew Walking” (a play on Jay Leno’s ‘Jay Walking’) being shown on the side of one of West Village’s building.
Menorah kits and Havdallah candles were handed out, as well as a set of two candles to be lit on Shabbat in honor of the memory of Shula Swerdlov, daughter of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok (who flew in from Israel to be a part of The Intown Chabad’s first ever Yom Kippur service this past year).
Shula was tragically killed in Israel at the age of 3 only a few weeks before Chanukah.
The GLOW after party was a first time venture for Drizin, “I had no idea what to expect! WHAT a turnout – a spectacular night for the Jewish community here in Dallas.”
Complete with a step-and-repeat board, professional lighting, music, and a fully stocked top shelf bar, people came early, stayed late, and celebrated the festival of lights.
