The 10th of shvat, the day marking the anniversary of when our leader, the Rebbe, accepted upon himself the yoke of leadership over the Chabad movement, has a special significance in Ukraine.
The 10th day of shvat also commemorated the anniversary of the inception of the educational program, STL or Shiyurei Torah Lyubavitch, launched by the Chief rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky together with Dan Makogon.
For the past 15 years STL has made many different programs encompassing Torah lessons, shabbatons, camps, seminars, coaching schools, farbrengens, social clubs and more. STL focuses on young adults, teens and kids. After 15 years, they have created tens of Jewish homes and have mentored thousands of Jews who until then were not involved in Jewish activity.
Being the 15 year anniversary and the 10th of Shvat, there was no way the day would go without fanfare.
Last Sunday night, 400 guests gathered from all over Ukraine for a gala dinner and farbrengen in the grand hall of the Menorah Centre to celebrate together, our leader the Rebbe and through whose inspiration the organization which brings so much Yiddishkeit and inspiration to their lives.
Throughout the dinner all participants took on personal resolutions to be even more active with their own Jewishness, as well as to involve more people to prepare the world for Moshiach.
Reb shmulik, keep up your amazing work
