Before Chanukah, twenty women gathered in front of the home of Devorah Scheiner where they all got into two vans and we took them grocery shopping.
Devorah raised close to $3,000 and they filled up their carts to full capacity buying everything they need for a Freilichen Chanukah.
They were each treated with a danish and a hot drink while they were shopping.
The smiles and tears on some faces were actually amazing to see, as they knew Devorah wanted them to have a beautiful Chanukah.
During the year she also raises funds to take different people shopping every few weeks to make sure they have enough for their families for Shabbos.
Before every major Yom Tov, she gives out 600 boxes of food. If you would like to contribute to her fund, called Devorah Scheiner’s Yom Tov Fund, contact Devorah Scheiner, 519 Montgomery St Brooklyn, NY 11225 (718) 771-2418.

The following letter was received by Mrs. Scheiner:
Dear Mrs. Scheiner,
Ashreinu- how lucky are we
To have you, Mrs. Scheiner, in our community
Selflessly giving of yourself just that so
Everyone for miles should feel your warm glow
A few days after surgery, yet always ready to share
No one is alone, because Hashem sends Mrs. Scheiner to care!
Always on the go, never slowing your pace
Trying to bring happiness to another yid’s face
Thank you, Mrs. Scheiner! You’re the best, that’s for sure!
Who knows how many lives you’ve changed forevermore?
Chesed, Goodness and kindness is flowing strongly through your veins
Following in your parents and grandparents ways
May Hashem bless you with happiness, nachas, health, wealth and energy
And the fruits of your work we should continue to see
Through your great deeds and devotion Moshiach we will be able to greet
And in Yerushalim we will meet.
Your friend who thinks about you
with great love, respect and admiration too

She was so involved in this chesed. I just donated in her memory.
So proud of our dear Bobby!
When my DH was out of work for few month and we were in debts& stress how to put food on the table , Peisah is an expensive holiday , Mrs Scheiner helped us few times and we ended with beautiful and delicious Seder …. Thanks for all your work and good open heart .
What a special woman who does so much chesed and treats people who are in need with so much respect and love. We should all learn from her! Everyone can be partners and give whatever you can and be a part of this important and special mitzvah of helping the needy!
One of these women told me about her shopping trip for Chanukah, and she was completely thrilled to be treated so royally. I wish I had a lot of money to give Mrs. Scheiner. And i wish nobody would need her help, but they really really do.
