The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn, a non-profit organization that provides support and services to families raising individuals with special needs, has announced that they have signed a contract to purchase a property that will serve as their future home and community center.
The property, strategically located at the crossroads of Crown Heights, East Flatbush and Remsen Village, is a 6000 SF lot with indoor and outdoor space. The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn plans to build a center that caters to the unique needs of their community, which includes over 250 local families and hundreds of volunteers. Additionally, it will act as a community center for their extended families, their rapidly growing volunteer base, and the broader community.
The Friendship Circle of Brooklyn was founded over two decades ago, and today is Directed by Rabbi and Mrs. Berel and Chani Majesky. Since then, they have been operating from offices hosted by the Jewish Children’s Museum and renting various spaces for their ongoing programs and initiatives, such as Friends@Home, Sunday Circle, Holiday Programs, Moms and Dads Nights Out, and more.
The new property will enable them to expand their services and offer more opportunities for their families and volunteers to connect, learn and grow.
Rabbi and Mrs. Majesky expressed their gratitude to Hashem, the Rebbe, their board of directors, their partners and friends, and their families and volunteers for making this dream a reality. They also invited everyone to join them on this incredible journey as they pave the way to creating a center for their families and volunteers.
“While signing the contract marks just the first step in this journey, our vision goes far beyond the one floor currently on the lot,” Rabbi Berel and Chani said. “With a buildable square footage of over 30,000 SF, this location will allow us to build a befitting center that caters to the unique needs of our community.
“As we embark on this journey, we are humbled by the unwavering dedication of our board of directors. Their passion and commitment have been the driving force behind reaching this dream. Equally, we extend heartfelt appreciation to our ever-growing community of partners and friends, whose boundless support, both financial and with their time and expertise, has made this dream a reality,” they said. “So, dear friends, stay tuned! This is not just a letter of celebration; it is an invitation to join us on this incredible journey as we pave the way to creating a Center for our families and volunteers.”
