An intimate gathering last week marked the 6th yartzeit of one the key chassidim and activists that helped the Rebbe with Chabad’s growth.
Rabbi Dovid Raskin, who passed away 6 years ago, was the director of the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim at Lubavitch Headquarters 770 Eastern Parkway.
A devoted chossid, he influenced a generation of bochurim in their formative years before getting married and actualizing the Rebbe’s directives to reach out to fellow Jews.
Reb Dovid, as he was known, was also instrumental in that area as the chairman of Tzeirei Agudas Chabad Hamerkozis (“Tzach”) – Lubavitch Youth Organization which now oversees Shluchim’s activities in the New York metropolitan.
Participants of the farbrengen sat on Thursday night at the Levi Yitzchok Library sharing memories and hearing anecdotes of his life and many activities.
Among the speakers was his colleague at the Yeshiva, the know mashpia and Choizer reviewer of the Rebbe’s teachings, Rabbi Yoel Kahn.
Additional words were heard from Rabbi Shmuel Butman, who succeeded Rabbi Raskin at the held of Tzach, and the renowned speaker and author Rabbi Manis Friedman.
